An $1,800 grant was given to the Dong Ha (Quang Tri province) grammar school system. The grant was used to by electronic teaching aids. Many can be seen in the pictures below.
That they were donated by U.S. citizens made the gift all the more remarkable. Educators in this small village never imagined help would come to them from so far away. Since the celebration was during Tet the children are all dressed in their best cloths. Xanh and her daughter passed out chewing gum to the children. Gifts of candy are common during Tet.
In order to properly express their gratitude the school administrators decided to have a ceremony at one of the schools with a formal presentation of the grant. The school principal presented Xanh with a beautiful plaque that displays the District “2” symbol.
